Asbestos
Asbestos is a building material that was used from the 1860s until it was banned in 1999.
Asbestos is a strong building material that is made up of minerals and microscopic fibres. It can resist heat, fire, and electricity and because of this it was used to fireproof, strengthen, insulate and reduce noise.
Any material that contains asbestos in a communal area will be inspected and kept safe, if it does get damaged, we will seal it or remove it. Our contractors are asbestos trained to help us manage it properly.
If you have asbestos in your home, you do not need to be worried. If it is in good condition, it is not usually a problem.
Where could asbestos be in my home?
Your home may not have any asbestos at all.
Contact us if you wish to carry out improvements in your home that may disturb asbestos. We can check our records to see if your home is likely to contain asbestos and where it is located.
Where asbestos is a hazard, we make it safe by enclosing it or removing it. We also carry out surveys on our properties to find out if they contain asbestos and what condition it is in.
If required, we will be in touch to let you know when our asbestos surveyors are going to be carrying out these surveys at your home, it’s really important that you allow us access.
